This week we are on the Côte d’Azur, as high season reaches its crescendo and the summer crowds bask in one of the world’s most glamorous destinations.

Stay tuned for upcoming news on hotels, restaurants and beach clubs, and the latest updates on St Tropez.

As August rolls into September, the crowds will start to disperse. Children return to school, the Mediterranean starts to reclaim itself and summer frivolity gently winds to a close like a waning moon. A magical new season begins, marked in the Northern Hemisphere by the southward equinox when the sun seems to cross the celestial equator.

A new season calls for new beginnings and experiences. This is the harvest season, a time of abundance and gathering, celebrated by different cultures and communities all over the world. It is a time of transition when the days start to shorten and leaves ripen to display nature’s most magnificent colours before falling to the ground.

Our planning is already well underway for the world’s most requested travel destinations for the fall months (as well as our stockpile of new openings and places less-known).

These months are perfect for cities like Rome, Madrid, London, Paris and Venice, when the climate is still mild and some of the continent’s leading contemporary art and cultural events are underway.

Berlin Art Week starts on 13 September, Frieze London and Frieze Masters take place from 11-15 October 2023, Paris+ par Art Basel is happening from 18-22 October and the Venice Biennale continues into November.

Sicily, Ibiza, Tuscany and the French and Athenian Rivieras are ideal during September, while October is perfect for Tel Aviv and Marrakech.

October and November are also some of our favourite months for East Africa, when the short rains bring a magnificent display of colours to the plains of the Maasai Mara and Serengeti, minus the July/August crowds. November and December are good months for Madagascar when the days are warm with light rains and ideal conditions for diving, fishing, snorkelling and sea turtles.

For guaranteed autumn sunshine and beach-perfect weather, Seychelles also features high on our list.
