It is also a favourite month to visit Paris, Milan and Rome when days are warm, al fresco dining is at its best and local people are still in town well ahead of the high-summer exodus.
We love the Mediterranean at this time of year, as well as Provence for the lavender and northern Italy for great wines and for Vicenza, where the Palladian architecture has earned it UNESCO World Heritage status. We are also enchanted by the lands of the midnight sun – destinations such as Norway, Sweden and Iceland, perfect in the latter part of the month with long light days and great diversity of things to do and see.
Our recent travels have taken us to the cities of Berlin, Paris and Zurich as well as to the Vaucluse region of south-east France.
Last week we were in Bodrum on the Turkish Riviera and this week in Mykonos, capital of the Cyclades, the jetset island of the Aegean. Nothing can compare with seeing and experiencing destinations and venues first hand, through discerning eyes, critiquing the hotels, appraising the villas and checking out the latest and most fashionable restaurants. It’s what we do best.
Avenue magazine recently published an interview with Anthony Lassman, Nota Bene founder, which we thought would be of interest. We are now a guest contributor and our first feature is on La Huchet on the Atlantic coast of France, a unique concept in a very special and wildly romantic location. Read our recent pieces in Avenue magazine ‘Not all who wander are lost’ (PDF) and ‘Wind, Sand and Stars’ (PDF).
Meanwhile, if you have not yet made summer plans, let us inspire you. The choices have never been more diverse, whether it is adventure in Africa, Iceland or Indonesia or relaxation, luxury and ocean pusuits in Capri, Saint-Tropez, Costa Smeralda, or the Greek and Balearic islands.
Our strapline is ‘We know where’ and we really do.
Have a happy June.
